Playing the Waiting Game!

3 Days! THREE DAYS! I cannot believe it, and I cannot contain my excitement. I'm beginning to regret not booking my flight to go sooner, with all the waiting Ive had to do, but nevertheless, the day has nearly come. I'm so ready to go. I even had a dream last night that felt so real. I had arrived In India and my taxi charged me a small fortune to get to the hostel, he then proceeded to take more and more 'paper coins' from my purse to foot the bill. I couldn't believe India was so expensive. But then, I woke up! Of course it's not that expensive and that's what I am looking forward to, the best part about travelling in cheap countries.
I have booked my hostel right in the heart of Delhi, It includes breakfast, wifi etc and comes at a steep price of €5 for a private room. God knows how I will afford the rest of my trip at these prices. HA! HA! I will be meeting Eliza on Monday morning and after a night in Delhi we will plan our ongoing trip which will take us down to Varanasi/Agra/Rajasthan/Mumbai and hopefully Goa. I will be meeting up with a Canadian girl -Krista as well during my time in India which will be great!  I'm hoping to catch a flight up to Delhi where I will meet a fellow yoga student Raine who will be training with me in Rishikesh. Im so excited to meet new friends on this trip and no doubt there will be some amazing memories to come from it!

During the week, I was in Donegal- for any of you who haven't read the previous post yet, and I had a really nice break away. Playing the waiting game, when you are trying to save money, plan your trip and set up a website on a daily basis, becomes a sort of 'groundhog day', so to get away from my computer and my surroundings was a nice treat. Our second day there was spent roaming hidden beaches, coves and inlets in the oh so secret parts of Donegal, shown to us by my mams friend. I must have taken about 300 pictures in one day, but with scenery like that around me and a brand new Canon to play with, I couldn't help myself.

The day ended with a lovely vegetarian meal in the local 'Bay View' pub in Dungloe, and considering the meal I was given the night before in the hotel, this was beautiful. The next day, the day we planned to leave Donegal, we had our breakfast and set off through the remote Glenties in the lashings of rain. We carried on towards Sligo and stopped off at Davis's restaurant at Yeates Tavern where we had planned to eat on the way home from the trip. With great reviews, we were excited to eat here, and upon entering the tavern, It seemed very well presented. This all went downhill after receiving what was supposed to be an Italian wrap without the bacon, but turned out to have bacon all through the wrap and on the plate. With not so much as a heartfelt apology, they took it back and proceeded to give me a new meat free version The original waiter wouldn't even look at us or come over, until eventually he was told to give me my proper meal. The food was really nice, but when we had finished, we were passed by continuously by the waiters and managers for what seemed like forever, before my mam had to ask them to take the plates away. We were not given the bill nor asked if we wanted tea/coffee/dessert etc so we went up to pay at our own accord. We were having really bad luck when It came to food on this trip and It seemed the only place to get it right was the Bay View in Dungloe. I proceeded to tweet Yeates Tavern to amplify my disgust, but never heard a reply back. I wont be recommending this place to anyone, that's for sure!

My last holiday In Ireland was a success apart from the food horrors, we had seen some amazing scenery and thoroughly relaxed over the duration of our stay. Listening to the planes jet over my house as I write this, sends butterflies fluttering through my stomach. That will be me in a few days! I have been on SO many flights at this stage, but I still get childishly excited before a major trip. Flying to London first and then to Delhi, I will arrive on Monday morning to the hustle and bustle of the big city. I've heard that the airport In Delhi is amazing (I wonder where It rates on the sleepinginairports.net list) so I will be sure to take a few sneaky snaps. This will be my last post from Ireland, and my last post from this section of the Blog. Please refer to the 'India' section from Monday onwards, to catch up with all my goings on in the land of the Taj.

Super Close to The Big Day!

Time really is flying! Yesterday I said goodbye to friends down the country and we chatted about my travels and what amazing experiences are about to come my way! I am really excited to be getting back on the road again but it certainly doesn’t come without its anxieties! Before each trip I get super nervous of the unknown something that quickly disappears after I have arrived at the said destination but nevertheless It’s still there at the beginning! They say that India is indescribable and you either love it or you hate it, but I’m kind of thinking I know the outcome already! I try to capture the culture of each country and as of yet I have not come across a country I have hated or just ‘not liked’ for that matter! India has everything I see in myself as a person and I think It will be a good match! The fact that the country is predominantly vegetarian suits me down to a T!

The spirituality of the culture certainly captivates me already form stories I’ve heard and most of all it is the birth place of yoga (have I mentioned that yet)! I started doing yoga a few years ago before and in between my travels! I loved it, but with not having the time to do it in a while I am really looking forward to properly relaxing in the moment, meeting new friends and making time for myself to chill out! Especially after the last two years of study! I am keen to get back to my old carefree self and leave my worries behind when I set off to India and I think that my choice to go there will be one of the best I’ve ever made!

The End Of An Era!

So the day has come when I say goodbye to my beloved Rosie aka my lovely pink car! It’s safe to say the money will come in a lot handier than the car especially with my plans to be away for such a long time! There seems no point in keeping her! I would rather someone else enjoy driving her! I hav also been looking into changing my flight to go as soon as next week! My travel mate Eliza will be arriving sooner than me and I thought why spend the extra days here, if I can change it then why not! It means I get to see more of India and it means Eliza won’t be waiting for me for too long! Who knows how it will pan out and I may have to wait until July 7th as planned bit for now I have my fingers crossed! Did I mention I passed the rest of my college exams! You could say that fits in with the title ‘the end of an era’ as of now I am finished in college forever! I won’t stay finished studying because we all know I have 6 weeks of that to go in India but I’m super excited about that! Yoga, come  at me! So for now I’m saying goodbye an parting ways with things and routines that have been in my life for the past two years! But I am super excited to be slowly returning to my usual backpacker self, the one I am most happier being! If only I could be one forever! Who says I can’t? The world has been, will be and will always be my oyster so why give that up! It won’t be in the near future that’s for sure!

Bring on the new era of my life!

ThreeWeeks To Go!

So tomorrow it will be 3 weeks till the day I leave! It’s all looking so real now! I even started packing my backpack! As I mentioned In my last post I did a shopping spree dedicated to travel essentials! Adding to that I recently picked myself up a flat travel money/bag for under my clothes (you can never be too safe), new earphones, a combination lock for my bag but thinking about it now I may get a pad lock as I am dreading the ‘combination’ stress in a situation where I need something quickly! I will bring the combo lock just incase! I also have added a light rain coat, small pack of travel toiletries, mini straighteners should I need them for my uncontrollable hair & a small bag of hair accessories/jewellery! All I need now is to pack last minute laptop, chargers &camera! To be super organised I am going to print off all my flight itineraries to have in my travel document case (a super handy gift I received in Canada)! I also have my little yellow book of vaccinations packed there just incase! After packing everything I mentioned before I was very surprised to see how much room I still had left in my backpack! I will try not let this encourage me to add more stuff! I’m sure I won’t! I hope so anyway! That’s all for now!

Indian Weather.. Hmmm!

So for anyone who has been to India around our summer time you will probably think I am crazy to go during their ‘Monsoon season’! And I probably am! Firstly it’s making it very hard to pack as I know it will rain a lot but at the same time it will be high 40′s temperature wise! How on earth do you pack for that! Looking at the Irish weather right now it’s giving me a head start on what to expect in India, on a good day I’m assuming! But nonetheless it’s not going to stop me exploring the vast country! I have tonnes of summer clothes to pack for the heat in most of the countries I will be travelling too but have made sure to pack closed shoes, rain coats and an umbrella for those unexpected showers! It isn’t the idea time to go to India although some people would disagree and say it is the best time as the country boasts vivid green scenery! Pure beauty! So if that’s what I am letting myself in for, then bring it on! Even if I am not fully prepared I’m sure I will learn as I go! And I will be keeping my readers updated regularly on the monsoon experience!

Okay so yesterday was the day undecided to get my life in order and buy my much needed travel clothes! I only bought practical things that I really needed and the rest I hav in my very packed wardrobe! First things first considering I may be doing a lot of walking and 6 weeks of yoga I needed some sports wear! I bought penneys ‘converse’, ‘toms’ and two pairs of Capri leggings! I will team these with baggy by shirts and a sweater! I then bought two pairs of skinny trousers in orange and navy very good for covering up in India or even going out at night! Very comfortable and a bargain at 9.90! An obvious must buy was a travel towel which cost €4 and  is an amazing addition to your backpack! So efficient! Amongst these were a cream cardigan again for covering up or for night time, black ray ban style sunglasses and two pairs of sandals! Of course Iv added tonnes more stuff into the pile from my wardrobe! Denim shorts, t shirts, bikinis, sarong and a lot more! I will add a picture below! I shall update you on my progress soon!

Okay so I’m getting to the point where I need to start buying bits and bobs for my trip and its so hard when your going to so many different counties, and cultures at that!

So for India  thinking linen trousers, yoga pants, leggings and scarves for covering up! Not forgetting shorts and tank tops for the beaches of Malaysia/Indonesia following this! Bikinis of course and summer dresses!Shoes – converse/dressy sandals/ flip flops and maybe pumps! Maybe a dressy dress or something for nights out but then again I can always buy these in India or Malaysia! Considering I may need a smaller size in clothes after 6 weeks of intensive 5am-8pm yoga training! Here’s to hoping!   Toiletries/ my SLR canon and laptop which I will be super protective of but it’s a must seen as I will be away for a long time! Probably forever if things go to plan I don’t tend to wear too much make up or none at all really when I’m away considering it melts off anyway and I will probably be tanned for the most part! Believe me iv started my pre tan already in the beautiful irish sun so no fake tan for me!  So that the basics and the rest is luxury so ill need to give this some thought! My back won’t thank me in the long run carrying around a super heavy backpack!  Back to the drawing board it is!

Plans For India!

So Iv decided on India as the first stop basically because Iv always wants to go and I never got the chance before! I will be travelling solo this time which is daunting especially with everything I’m hearing about female travellers in India at the moment but nonetheless  powering through!

Iv been on a few travel websites, my saviours really for any trip, and have been chanting to a few people I’m meeting on my travels! I will be meeting up with Eliza from Wales during the first leg of the trip and 4 weeks into the 10 week India trip will be meeting Raine from South Africa who will be taking part in the yoga teach training course in Rishikesh (home of yoga)!  It’s all very exciting but scary at the same time! Once I get through India I think I will be sorted! I don’t know why it’s scaring me so much after all, the ‘dangerous’ countries that are Brazil and Bolivia were not at all what people told me they would be! So once again I am making my won mind up! Everyone has different experiences at the end of the day and I’m determined to make mine incredible!
